However, unlike the i7+ and other top rated robots we test, the i3+ doesn't have obstacle-avoidance capabilities, so it may get stuck on things like power cords or socks, and it can have difficulty navigating across surface transitions, such as from hardwood to rug.
iRobot recommends that you tidy the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes putting away any toys or clutter it might encounter. In our tests, the i7+ was more agile and faster than our top choice and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces types including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is its self-emptying bin which removes major maintenance sources and reduces the cost of maintenance.
We were also impressed with the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot on how to begin or stop cleaning sessions as well as move around the room and even vacuum a specific area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. We were able, once connected, to give voice commands to the i7+ like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and monitoring the performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
In a world full of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans or buses, this small Dyson model feels like an old-fashioned sports car. However, this model doesn't have its benefits It's lighter and more maneuverable than older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming performance is noticeably superior on carpets with a low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
The 694 is a standard robot vac uum that's a great choice for those who don't have a lot of money to spend on a robot. It could pick up the majority of types of debris and sizes in our testing and often went over the same area many times to ensure an extensive clean. Its flat front makes it possible to reach the corners and edges of walls.
Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate around your home, but it lacks the mapping capability of more sophisticated models like our top picks and the i3+ EVO and j7+ series.
